Aussies in NZ in Cricket

Postby Andy » Sun Mar 07, 2010 9:11 am

Being a bit of a cricket fan, I've been watching the games on FOX over in NZ and I have noticed a few differences in the way it is telecast.

For starters, If the Aussies hit a boundary over here against say, The Windies, the camera would pan around and show a few shots of the crowd waving flags and 'high 5ing' but over in NZ, they show the drunken yobo's giving 'The Bird' and angrily screaming at the players. Yep, that’s real classy!

Now I know that sort of thing goes on here as well but at least it doesn't get shown on TV so as to show the kids at home how drunken dickheads behave at the cricket.

During Saturday’s game the camera was held on one dropkick standing on his own amongst a crowd of seated people screaming "Johnsons a wanker".
This guy didn't even have any friends around him doing it but there he stood, all by himself, beer in hand yelling as loud as he could.

If I were a parent at home in Auckland, I'd think "well I ain’t taking my kuds to the crucket bro, it looks like it's just for yobbos to get pussed drunking some choice KB bro"
Way to grow the game bro's!

Like I said, I know this type of stuff goes on here as well but I think SKY TV in NZ might need a few lesions on who to show in the crowd and who not to show.
Can you do that SMS thing where you 'Dob in a dickhead' from home?

As neighbours, there is always a bit of humour in giving each other a bit of a poke in the ribs but I'm beginning to wonder do Kiwi's generally hate Aussies?

I knew the 'Ewe-turners' had an inferiority complex but from what I see in the crowd and from Sky TV's producers, I never realized it was so bad.
If this isn’t the attitude of the average Kiwi, if I were them, I’d be a little embarrassed about how SKY TV is portraying the fans internationally.
No wonder it took ages for the Aussies to visit NZ, if that’s the reaction a touring side gets down there then it might be a while before they return.

I just think that if un-sociable behaviour is discouraged at the grounds, why show it on TV, and show it to the other team’s viewers as well.

Anyway, it’s good to see Ponting and his boys getting tested. :D
Over the summer all I heard was how invincible the Aussie team was and how they are the best in the world again. Perhaps we were lulled into a false sense of security when winning over a Windies team that was beaten by Zimbabwe the other day.
Good to see the boys are getting a reality check in NZ because in my opinion, if they want to be on the same level as South Africa and India, they will have to lift their game.
I've been enjoying McCullum with the bat, He's making the bowlers work, and hopefully soon we'll see Ross Taylor fire as well.

Go the Aussies!! ;)
But go NZ too, It’s good to see some tight matches again.

What's cricket ? :? :? :drink:
I was depressed last night, so I rang lifeline. Got a call center in Afghanistan and told them I was suicidal.

They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
